Services for Clifton Dean Philpott, 89, of Estherville were held Saturday, May 24, 1980 at the United Methodist Church in Estherville with the Rev. Max Goldman officiating. Mr. Philpott died Thursday, May 22, 1980 at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. James Philpott, he was born Sept. 21, 1890, at Gays, Ill., where he went on to receive his education. He married Mary Fleshner Jan. 21, 1913 in Peoria, Ill.

In 1913, the couple moved to the Estherville area and farmed in the Estherville and Terril area until 1944, when they retired in Estherville. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Estherville.

Mr. Philpott is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Irma Rouse, Terril, Mrs. Rita Solmonson, Estherville, and Mrs. Alvin (Edith) Cook, Spirit Lake; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one granddaughter, four brothers and one sister. (Milford Mail and Terril Record, Milford, IA, May 29, 1980)
