Moffitt’s Services Tuesday
Francis [Oliver] Moffitt, 53, Estherville, died Jan. 12 in Veterans Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D., from complications of a diabetic condition.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in United Methodist Church, Graettinger, with the Rev. Harlan Babcock officiating. Burial will be held at Eastside cemetery, Estherville, where military graveside rites will be held.
Mr. Moffitt, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse E. Moffitt, was born June 11, 1920 at Spencer.
He moved to Osgood with his family and received his education in the schools in Osgood.
In December, 1950 he was united in marriage to Thelma Heidinger in Nebraska. The couple lived in Estherville since their marriage.
He served with the U.S. Army for two years during World War II.
Mr. Moffitt is survived by his wife, Thelma; two sons, Gary Lee and Craig Francis, both of Estherville; two daughters, Terri Louise of Madison, Maine, and Sylvia Gale of North Anson, Maine; three grandchildren; two brothers, Clarence and Marvin, both of Estherville; four sisters, Mrs. Alta Juhl of Cylinder, Mrs. Gordon (Mildred) Phillips of Midland, Mich., Mrs. Alice Brobst of Wallingford and Nina Moffitt of Estherville; and many nieces and nephews. He has been preceded in death by one daughter, his parents and one brother.
Pallbearers will be Melvin Ellis, Lloyd Rockne, Robert Origer, Obert Rockner, William Origer and Francis Sheda.
Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville, is in charge of arrangements, where visitation may be made at any time until time of services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 14, 1974)
