Estherville – Roy C. Mitts, 86, Estherville, died Friday evening at the Good Samaritan Center.Services for Mr. Mitts will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville, with the Rev. Max Goldman of the United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery with military graveside services.
Friends may call at the funeral home until time of services.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Mitts, he was born Aug. 5, 1892, near Milford [Per WWI draft card, Spencer, IA]. He received his education in Milford schools and was married to Edith Rippon at Slayton, Minn., on Aug. 18, 1923.
He lived in the Milford, Terril and Estherville areas his entire life, where he farmed until retiring in 1956 and moving into Estherville.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, American Legion and a veteran of World War I.
Mr. Mitts is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Nickolas (Margene) Gross, Castro Valley, Calif.; one son, Carlyle Mitts, Estherville; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. W.W. (Bernice) Terry, Milford, and Mrs. Lillian Padget, Pasadena, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, five brothers and four sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 16, 1979)
