Estherville – Services for Arnold W. Laidig, Sr., 75, will be held Thursday 10:30 a.m. at Gruver Presbyterian Church with Dr. John Besore III officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. He died Monday, August 14, 1989 at his home.

Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville from 3-9 pm. Wednesday.

He was born Nov. 10, 1913 in Emmet County, Iowa, the son of Franklin and Cecilia (Bogh) Laidig and was a graduate of Maple Hill High School. On Nov. 10, 1936 he was united in marriage with Mildred Fowler at Spirit Lake. He lived in Emmet County his entire life and farmed north of Gruver until the couple moved into Estherville and he was employed by Golden Sun Feeds, later Emmet County State Bank. He retired in Jan.1988. He was a member of Gruver Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred, Estherville; two sons: Mancil of Newton and Lt. Col. Arnold W. Laidig, Jr., Alexandria; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers: Paul and Ernest, Estherville; two sisters: Mrs. Ben (Edith) Huntley, Dolliver and Mrs. Leona Enderson, Estherville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and one sister.
