Services for Arthur Joseph Johnson, 87, of Estherville will be held Monday, April 29 at 10:30 a.m. in the Union Baptist Church in Estherville with Pastors Rick Mavis and Rawlin Johnson officiating. Interment will be at the East Side Cemetery, Estherville. He died Saturday, April 27 at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.

He was born July 18, 1903 in Linn Grove, the son of Ludwig and Nellie (Helvik) Johnson. He graduated from Lauren High School in Laurens and attended Mankato Business College, Mankato, Minn. He married Dorothy Louise Beals June 28, 1936 in Russell. He was a manager for Northern Lumber Company and managed lumber yards in Webb, Northwood and Hampton. The couple later moved to Estherville where he was the manager at Great Plains Lumber Company. He was a member of the Union Baptist Church in Estherville and a fifty-year member of the Masonic Lodge where he was a past master.

He is survived by his wife and one son, Arthur Johnson of Mena, Arkansas. Other survivors include one brother: Leland Johnson of Laurens, and three sisters: Helen Johnson of Milwaukee, Wis., Alma Lacke of Marshfield, Wis., and Eve Finnestad of Laurens.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 29, 1991)
