Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 4, 1995, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Estherville, for Alice M. Hansen, age 78 of Spirit Lake. Pastor Jack Peterson officiated.

Alice was born to Albert and Anna Teig Vangen on August 10, 1916 in Windom, Minn. She received her education in the Jackson County schools, graduating from Jackson County High School in 1934.

She married Albert Hansen on February 1, 1937 in Lakefield, Minn. After their marriage, the couple lived in rural Jackson, Minn. for 23 years. In 1960, the couple moved to Estherville where they both were employed at the Good Samaritan Center, where Albert served as the administrator.

The couple retired in 1977 and spent their summers in Spirit Lake and wintered in Florida.

Alice was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Estherville.

She passed away on May 1, 1995 at Dickinson County Hospital, Spirit Lake.

Survivors include her husband, Albert, of Spirit Lake; daughters: Sharon Hess and her husband, Art, of Greeley, Colo.; Molly Hinds and her husband, Bruce, of Spencer; and Jurene Murray of Aurora, Colo.; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Ann Woodke and her husband, Loren, of Lakefield, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Adeline Vangen; son, Clifford; and granddaughter, Renate Jean Hess.

Interment was in East Side Cemetery, Estherville. Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home of Estherville was in charge of arrangements. (Spirit Lake Beacon, Spirit Lake, IA, May 11, 1995)
