Ardella Burgess
Estherville – Funeral services for Ardella Mae Burgess, 76, of Estherville will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 16 at the First Presbyterian Church in Estherville with Pastor Mark Gabbard officiating. Interment will be held at East Side Cemetery in Estherville. She died on Monday, May 13, 2002 at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15 at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

Ardella was born on July 20, 1925 in Ringsted, the daughter of Henry and Frances Lowenberg. Ardella attended elementary school in the Halfa, Iowa school. She graduated from Ringsted High School in 1943. Ardella made her home in Estherville for most of her life.

On March 9, 1945, she was united in marriage to Gilbert Burgess in Fairmont, Minnesota. Ardell enjoyed reading and needlework for hobbies.

Ardella was a very active member of the Presbyterian Church in Estherville. She also was extremely active in Estherville VFW Post 3388 Ladies Auxiliary activities.

Ardella is survived by her children: Randie Lynn Bartleman of Polk City; Janet Houge and her husband, Everett, of Superior; Donald Gilbert Burgess and his wife, Barb of Goodyear, Ariz.; Thomas Eugene Burgess and his wife, Andrea of Martinez, Ga.; and Robert Henry and his special friend, Tracey Huffman of Estherville; nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren; two sisters, Christina Jensen of Ringsted, Rose Ella Cronk of Armstrong and four brothers, Melvin Loewenberg of Spirit Lake; James Loewenberg of Edina, Minn.; Dennis Loewenberg of Escondido, Calif. and Arnold Loewenberg of Cypress, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Diane Kay Day; and one granddaughter, Jodi Lyn; one sister, LuVerne Skow; and one brother, Ervin Loewenberg. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 14, 2002)
