Lambert Obituary
Funeral services were held on Saturday morning at eleven o’clock for Harley Milton J. Lambert who died very suddenly on Thursday [August 19, 1948] morning at five o’clock in the Holy Family hospital of a heart attack.Harley Lambert was a well-known real estate business man here for years. He was in the real estate business and insurance. Harley as he was always known was a most active business man. Beside his business he never failed to do his share in any civic undertaking and do it well. He never shirked any duty. Even with his illness which soon has been for a long time he as soon as able was again as active as it was possible to be.
He decided he wanted to see the Jerry Wegs ball game and went to the game. He became ill and was taken home, the following morning he was taken to the Holy Family hospital and died the following day. Not before his two daughters, Mrs. Ridley and Mrs. Turner, both of California, had reached his bedside.
Mr. Lambert was born August 2, 1880, at Bloomington, Ill. When a boy he moved to Bradgate where he was educated. It was there he met and married his wife, Rose Godden. They came to Estherville in 1912.
He is survived by his widow and three daughters, Mrs. Everett Ridley of Pasadena, Calif., Mrs. Kenneth Turner of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Robert Cox of this city.
The funeral services were held from the Huffman funeral home on Saturday morning at eleven o’clock. The Rev. F.E. Conaway officiating. Interment was in a cemetery at Humboldt with a short service at four o’clock Saturday afternoon. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, August 26, 1948)
