Estherville – Funeral services for Hattie Amdahl, 94, of Estherville will be held at 2 p.m. on Wed. June 11, 1997 at the United Methodist Church in Estherville. Interment will be held at the East Side Cemetery. She died on Fri. June 6, 1997 at Holy Family Health Services.Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville.
She was born on June 25, 1902 in Superior, the daughter of Frank J. and Emma Sophia (Wolf) Manthey. She lived in Superior until 1913. She then moved to Estherville with her family. She received her education in the Superior country schools and Estherville High School. She later attended Cedar Rapids Business College.
On November 19, 1930, she was united in marriage to Gilbert Leonard Amdahl in Spencer. She was employed at Ehlers Value Store, Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. and also Pransky Clothing.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Rebekah Lodge and Past Noble Grands Club of Rebekah Lodge.
She is survived by three sons: Gilbert F. Amdahl and Willis J. Amdahl, both of Estherville and Larry L. Amdahl of Austin, Minn.; two daughters, Donna (Mrs. Don) Hoffmeyer of Estherville, and Joyce (Mrs. Karl) Fliehler of Ankeny, Minn.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Arlene and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 9, 1997)
