Margrethe Abel-d’Anjou
Estherville – a private family service for Margarethe Abel-d’Anjou, 90, of Estherville has been tentatively scheduled for Monday. Interment in East Side Cemetery, Estherville. She died on Saturday, December 18, 1993, at her home.There will be no visitation. Arrangements by Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.
She was born September 10, 1903 in Berlin, Germany, the daughter of Gustav von Loehr and Mary Matre de Plessis and received her education in the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin. She married Rudolf P. Abel in Berlin. The family moved to the United States and Estherville in 1949. Mr. Abel died in 1969. She was a teacher, painter, author, reporter and columnist in Europe and the United States.
She was a member of the Huguenot Church in Europe.
Survivors include Peter Abel of Estherville and Rudi Abel of Honolulu, Hawaii.
She was preceded in death by her husband and one son, Rolf. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 20, 1993)
