J.L. Tuttle Passed Away
Word has been received here telling of the death of J.L. Tuttle which occurred Monday [March 10, 1924] at his home in Miller, South Dakota. The remains will be shipped to Gridley on Thursday and funeral services will be held Friday afternoon from the Armstrong Presbyterian church. Mr. Tuttle was a former resident of Iowa Lake township but of late has been making his home in Miller. His many friends around Armstrong will be grieved to learn of his sudden death. The many friends of J.L. Tuttle were grieved to hear of his death last Monday at his home in Miller, South Dakota. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church at Armstrong last Friday afternoon. The Tuttle family owned the farm where Oscar Wickens lives and left here but a few years ago to make their home elsewhere. Mr. Tuttle was highly respected as a quiet, honest neighbor and friend. Mrs. Tuttle and sons have the deepest sympathy of all their many friends and neighbors in the loss of the husband and father. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, March 19, 1924)

Armstrong - Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church Friday afternoon for L.L. [J.L.] Tuttle of Miller, S.D. Mr. Tuttle and family were former residents here and also lived on a farm between here and Maple Hill for several years. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, March 19, 1924)

Obituary J.L. Tuttle
J.L. Tuttle was born in Dubuque, Iowa, August 17, 1871, and died at Miller, South Dakota, March 10, 1924. He came to Emmet county in 1894 and was married to Miss Elizabeth Ann Hankins [Hawking] of Plattsville, Wisconsin. To this union two children were born, one of which died in infancy. Besides his wife and son, Walter L. Tuttle, he is survived by one brother, who resides at Los Angeles, Calif. Mr. Tuttle resided in Emmet county until 1918, when he moved to Miller, South Dakota, where he lived until the time of his death. The body arrived at Gridley Thursday evening and was met by thirty members of the Masonic lodge, at Armstrong, of which the deceased was an active member. Funeral services were held in the Armstrong church Friday afternoon and the body was laid to rest in the Armstrong cemetery. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, March 19, 1924)
