Former Resident of Terril Dies; Rites Saturday
Terril – Funeral services were held Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Windom, Minn. for Mrs. Fern Swartz. The Rev. Dale Wordelman officiated at the services with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery in Estherville.

Pallbearers were Arthur Aldrich, Wally Johnson, Dale Upward, Albert Bakalyar, Rudy Zehnder and Harlan Steffen.

Mrs. Swartz was born in Mazon, Ill. on June 17, 1895. Her parents were David and Annie Cryer Wood. At the age of seven she moved to Terril with her parents.

On June 28, 1916, she was married to Walter Franklin Swartz t Terril. They lived in the Estherville and Terril area until 1945. At that time they moved to a farm in the Lakefield, Minn. area. In 1954, Mr. and Mrs. Swartz moved to Lakefield. Mr. Swartz died November 4, 1957. Mrs. Swartz moved to Windom about one year ago.

Mrs. Swartz died at the Lakefield hospital Thursday morning, May 31, at the age of 77.

Survivors include three daughters, Evelyn, Mrs. Ted Loudermild of Windom, Beth, Mrs. Eugene Huebner of Gnadenhutten, Ohio, and Eileen, Mrs. Dale Blunt of Terril; 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Mabel Pickering of Terril.

Mrs. Swartz was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one brother and one great-granddaughter. (Spirit Lake Beacon, Spirit Lake, IA, June 7, 1973)
