William R. Rost Dies of Heart Attack
William R. Rost, 69-year-old railroad engineer of Estherville, suffered a fatal heart attack this morning at 2:45 at his home. Mr. Rost lived in Estherville for the past 43 years.

The deceased was born in Jackson county, Minn., on Jan. 30, 1885. He was married to Minnie Suckow [Suchow] in the St. John’s Lutheran church at Petersburg, Minn., on March 19, 1911.

Until the time of his marriage Mr. Rost farmed near Jackson, Minn. At that time, the couple moved to Estherville where he became employed by the Rock Island Railroad company.

Surviving Mr. Rost’s death are his wife, one son and a grandson. The son, Glenn, farms near Estherville.

Three brothers and three sisters also survive the deceased. The brothers are Ed of Estherville, John and Henry, both of Bovey, Minn. The three sisters are Mrs. Roy Goggin of Estherville, Mrs. Harry Shreeve of Alberton, Mont., and Mrs. Nettie Ketchum of Moose Lake, MInn.

Funeral services have been set for Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran church with the ev. William Henline officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.

Friends may call at Sandin Funeral home from Thursday noon until Saturday noon and at the church Saturday afternoon until the time of services. The casket will not be opened after services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 7, 1954)
