Mrs. James Oston Dies at Age of 90
Armstrong – Funeral services for Mrs. James (Sarah [Bethel]) Oston, 90, who died at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James Verbrugge, in Swea City early Tuesday [August 28, 1962], will be held Friday at the First Methodist Church in Swea City.Mrs. Oston had been ill for some time and had been confined to bed for the past six months. She was a member of the Estherville Christian Church.
She was born April 7, 1872, in Galena, Ill., and in March , 1911, married James Oston at Sturgess, S.D. The couple moved to Emmet County in January, 1953, and he continued truck farming here after having done so in Illinois, South Dakota and Minnesota.
Survivors include daughters Edith (Mrs. Verbrugge) of Swea City and Lucile of Washington, D.C., and a son Edward of Bethesda, Md. She was preceded in death by her husband, brothers and sisters.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Swea City Methodist Church, with the Rev. Edward Maus officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Estherville.
Friends may call at the Slaba Funeral Chapel in Armstrong Thursday evening or at the church in Swea City between 1 and 2 p.m. Friday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 29, 1962)
