Estherville – Nolan Omer Nelson, 75, Estherville, died Friday [February 2, 1979] at Holy Family Hospital.

Services for Mr. Nelson were held Monday at the Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville, with the Rev. Max Goldman of the Estherville United Methodist Church officiating. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. William Nelson, he was born Dec. 29, 1903, at Linn Grove. He received his education in Swea City schools and was married to Leta J. Mason at Sioux City on April 4, 1926.

The couple lived in Gruver and Estherville, where Mr. Nelson was self-employed as a cattle buyer. He was baptized in the Lutheran Church.

Mr. Nelson is survived by his wife, Leta; three sons, Allan Nelson, Turlock, Calif., Nolan Nelson Jr., Ardmore, Okla., and David Nelson, Des Moines; three daughters, Mrs. Phyllis Rodriguez, Sioux City; Mrs. Maxine Brashear, Estherville, and Mrs. Judith Anderson, DeWitt; 25 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother, Virgil Nelson, Jacksonville, Fla.; and three sisters, Mrs. Gladis Evenson, Colorado Springs, Colo., Mrs. Virginia Abel, Port Richie, Fla., and Mrs. Elvira Sheridan, Salem, Ore.

Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 5, 1979)
