Estherville – Harold Nelson, rural Estherville, died en route to Holy Family Hospital, Estherville, Friday [March 10, 1978].

Services for Mr. Nelson were held today at the Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville, with the Rev. George Brighton of the Graettinger United Methodist Church officiating. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville.

Mr. Nelson was born Oct. 21, 1902, at Skjern, Denmark, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Niels Nelson. He came to the United States with his mother and sisters, settling in North Dakota. The family moved to Emmet County after many years.

He graduated from Estherville High school in 1923 and attended Iowa State University, Ames. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific. Mr. Nelson was employed by the Clark Brothers until his retirement.

Mr. Nelson is survived by two sisters, Hertha Nelson, Estherville, and Mrs. E.B. (Hannah) Burg, Wallingford; and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 13, 1978)
