Dies After Several Months Illness
Caroline Emelia Myhre was born February 1, 1875 to Ivor O. and Anne Myhre of High Lake Township, Emmet County, Iowa. Her father homesteaded there during the time of the Civil War. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Wallingford and attended school in that community and in Estherville.She went to Charles City and there learned the linotype trade. She has worked at this all of her life. She worked for both the Estherville Enterprise and the Vindicator in Estherville. The latter years she has worked at West Bend and Graettinger.
Miss Myhre returned to Estherville this spring. Shortly after coming here she accidentally fell and sustained a hip fracture. She was taken to the Park View Clinic and seemed to be on the way to recovery when several complications set in, and she never was able to get back to her home. She entered the Clinic on June 30 of last year and passed away Sunday noon, February 29.
Miss Myhre is survived by one sister, Mrs. Thom Storhow, and four brothers, Oscar of Estherville, Martin of Graettinger, Albert of Huntington and Elmer of Des Moines. Five brothers and sisters have preceded her in death. She is also survived by eleven nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted in the Estherville Lutheran Church, with interment in the Wallingford cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, March 4, 1948)
