1925-1979
Estherville – Raymond R. Lair, 53, Estherville, died Thursday [September 27, 1979] morning at Holy Family Hospital, Estherville.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville, with the Rev. Fred Sawyer officiating. Military graveside services and interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home until the time of services Saturday.

Mr. Lair was born Oct. 10, 1925, in Terril, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Lair. He attended school in the Lake Center District and was married to Darlene Schacherer in 1947 in Estherville. He later married Bonnie Rohweder on Dec. 31, 1978, in Las Vegas, Nev.

He farmed in Emmet County and was a partner on the Lair Trucking Company. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and was a veteran of World War II.

Mr. Lair is survived by his wife, Bonnie, Estherville; his mother, Mrs. Edith Lair, Estherville; two sons, David Lair and Michael Lair, both of Estherville; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Debra) Petersen, Cylinder, and Marsha Lair, Estherville; two brothers, Don Lair, Estherville, and Leroy Lair, Sioux Falls, S.D.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 28, 1979)
