Edith Lair
Estherville – Services for Edith Lair, 93, of Estherville, will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at First Christian Church with the Rev. Dr. Mike Thiel officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. She died Sunday March 21, 1993 at Holy Family Hospital.Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville from 4-9 p.m. Thursday.
She was born July 29, 1899 at St. Paul, Ark., the daughter of Charles and Sara (Cragar) Wise, and attended St. Paul School. On Jan. 5, 1919 she married Russell Lair at Magness, Ark., following marriage the couple moved to Webb in March of 1919; in 1922 they moved to a farm near Terril, later farmed in Emmet County. In 1952 she moved into Estherville. She has been a resident of Good Samaritan Center since July of 1991.
She was a member of the First Christian Church; Rebekah Lodge, VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include a son, Leroy, of Sioux Falls, S.D. and a daughter, Opal Lair, of Omaha; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one sister, Ethel Walker of Ft. Smith, Ark.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three sons; one great-grandson; parents; three brothers and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 24, 1993)
