Mrs. Floyd Baker, Mrs. Elmer McKinney and Mrs. Hazel Black were in Estherville Monday afternoon attending the funeral of Mrs. Ralph Kurtz who passed away last week Monday [Wednesday]. Mrs. Kurtz was prominent in Rebekah circles. She was Past Noble Grand of the lodge and Past Deputy President. (Spirit Lake Beacon, Spirit Lake, IA, October 14, 1943)

Mr. and Mrs. George Stammer and daughter Miss Mildred were at Estherville on Saturday and were visitors at the Clarence Kurtz home. Their friend, Mrs. Kurtz [Esther A. Rentz Kurtz] passed away last Wednesday [October 6, 1943]. (SpiritLake Beacon, Spirit Lake, IA, October 14, 1943)
