H.H. Hansen Dies at 81 in Hospital
Henry H. Hansen, 81, lifelong resident of Estherville, died Saturday [January 22, 1966] at 11:45 p.m. at Holy Family Hospital, his death attributed to infirmities of advanced age. He had been in the hospital for six days.The Estherville Cooperative Creamery now is located on a lot formerly occupied by Hansen Sanitary Milk Depot that he owned and operated for many years. He sold his milk business to the creamery about 1929.
The son of Peter and Anna Hansen, Henry Hans Hansen was born April 27, 1884, in Estherville and received his education in the schools here.
He was married in 1907 [per her obituary, December 6, 1908] to Floy Horswell. Mrs. Hansen died in 1931.
He was remarried Sept. 25, 1935, to Julia Grace Hite at Emmetsburg.
After Mr. Hansen sold his milk business, he worked as a county road patrolman until 1935 when he and Mrs. Hansen moved to their present home on Park Road. There he continued farming until recently and he and Mrs. Hansen had continued to make their home there.
Mr. Hansen is survived by his widow, a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Lois) Wiegand of Marshalltown; four sons, Donald C., Richard R. and Robert M. of Estherville and James F. of Sioux Falls; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Frizzell of Estherville and Mrs. Marie Lanken of Harvey, Ill., and one niece, Mrs. Harrison Fisher of Harvey.
Also surviving are three stepchildren: Mrs. Dorothy Peterson and Mrs. Irvin Rierson of Estherville and Mrs. Forest Frank of Sioux City; 15 step-grandchildren and five great step-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Hansen will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Fuhrman Funeral Home, Rev. Fred Ortmyer officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home until time of services. Pallbearers will be Arnold M. Anderson, George L. Hackett, Andrew Graff, Don Meyer and Ervin Rierson of Estherville and John DeVries of Graettinger.
A memorial for the cancer fund has been established by the family. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 24, 1966)
