Estherville – Services for Luvern Fanter, 77, of Estherville, will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Glenn Bohmer officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville, with graveside military services by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91 of Estherville. He died Monday, Jan. 29, 1996 at 1108 Central Ave., Estherville.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

He was born Oct. 25, 1918 at Dunnell, Minn., the son of William and Maude (Wenberg) Fanter. He attended Dunnell school. He served in the United States Army during WW II in the Pacific. After his marriage to Gena Nelson on Jan. 11, 1948 in Estherville the couple made their home in Estherville. He worked at People’s Natural Gas for 38 years. He also worked for the Estherville Car Wash for a number of years till retiring in Sept. of 1995. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Estherville.

Survivors include a son Randy Fanter of Estherville; a special friend, Mary Snyder, Estherville; sisters-in-law: Mae Strand, Jackson, Minn. and Ethel Leenerts of Boyd, Minn.; brothers-in-law: Lloyd and Anton Nelson of Boyd.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents, two brothers and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 31, 1996)
