Funeral Services for Walter Dean Held Wednesday
Final Rites for Walter W. Dean, 72, of Spirit Lake were held Wednesday (yesterday) at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert R. Phillips officiating.

Mr. Dean died Sunday at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.

He had farmed in Dickinson County until 1960 and then did construction work until 1970 when he retired to Spirit Lake.

Mr. Dean was born April 4, 1902 at Lakeview, Iowa, the son of Walter W. and Addie Wiseman Dean.

On August 27, 1926, he was united in marriage to Erma Beaver at Spencer.

Survivors include: his wife, Erma; four daughters, Mrs. Dale (Shirley) Alexander of Bertha, Minn., Mrs. Joe (Faye) Weibye of Lincoln, Nebr., Mrs. David (Nancy) Carter of Rockford, Minn.; a sister, Mrs. Karl Klempe; five brothers, Herbert, Fred, Wylie, Milan and Robert; 18 grandchildren; one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, one sister and three brothers.

Music was provided by Mrs. Paul Redington. Pallbearers were Clayton Dean, Lynn Harold Dean, Earl Dean, Glenn Dean, David Dean, Jerry Dean.

Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery at Estherville with the Harpole-Tenold Funeral Home in charge. (Milford Mail, Milford, IA, May 2, 1974)
