Rites of Lester Dean Held Today, Estherville
Funeral services for Lester Dean, who died Monday [April 16, 1945] at St. Mary’s hospital in Rochester, Minn., were held this afternoon at 1:30 from the Dean home near Superior and at 2:30 from the Presbyterian church in Estherville. The Rev. J.M. Kennedy officiated and burial will be in the Oak Hill cemetery.

Mr. Dean, who had been ill six weeks, was born Dec. 8, 1899 [per WWI Draft records, 1898], at Wall Lake, in Sac county and lived at home with his parents in Sac, Emmet and Dickinson counties.

He was preceded in death by his father, who died nine years ago. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Addie Dean and two sisters, Edna at home and Mrs. Karl Klempa of Spirit Lake; eight brothers, Lynn of Superior, Herbert of Spirit Lake, Walter of Estherville, Walter of Estherville, Wylie of Laurens, Fred, Howard and Robert at home, and Milan, serving with General Hodge’s First Army in Germany.

Pallbearers are Henry Hoeppner, Harry Swanson, Leslie Armstrong, Everett Rudd, Sid Northey and Emory Kizer. (Spirit Lake Beacon, Spirit Lake, IA, April 19, 1945)
