Mrs. J. Crawford Dies Wednesday of Heart Attack
Mrs. J. Crawford, a pioneer of this county and city, passed away Wednesday [December 10, 1947] morning at Holy Family Hospital from a heart attack. The attack was the second one and came Wednesday morning as she was eating breakfast.
Agnes Larbig was born in Newcastle, Ind. on January 15, 1873. She resided there until eight or nine years of age. The family decided Emmet County was a fine place to reside and came as far as Emmetsburg by train and drove the rest of the way. They purchased a farm Southwest of the city and for years the place was known as the Larbig farm.
She was united in marriage to James A. Crawford on January 15, 1892 and she has resided in the city since that time. To this union were born three sons and one daughter. The daughter passed away at the age of three years.
Mrs. Crawford was a family loving woman. She attended strictly to the family. We have known her for years and for many years was a neighbor of the family. She was kind and considerate to all and loved to do for others.
She is survived by three sons, Roy, Carl and Dave, all well known here having spent many years in business here.
Funeral services will be from the Sternborg chapel at 1:30 on Friday and from the Presbyterian Church at 2:00, the Rev. F. E. Conaway officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, December 11, 1947)
