Estherville – Services for Maud Brown, 100, who died Friday, April 7, 1989 at Good Samaritan Center in Estherville, will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church of Estherville with Dr. Robert Kunz officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Maud Belle Brown was born October 27, 1888 in Friendship, Wisc. To William Wesley and Minnie (Ruh) Pierce. She was educated in the Angelo, Wisc. Schools and on November 23, 1904 married Thomas Brown at Sparta, Wisc. The couple moved to the Estherville area in 1923 where Maud worked for the Maynard Anderson Bakery for many years before retiring in 1954. She has been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center for the past few years. Mrs. Brown was a member of the First Christian Church, Royal Neighbors, Rebekah Lodge and Service Star Legion.

Survivors include a son, Ora Brown of Auburn, Wash.; three daughters: Mrs. Vivian Bretzman of Estherville, Mrs. Walter (Doris) Frick of Estherville and Mrs. Joyce Nelson of Roseville, Minn.; twenty-five grandchildren; forty-six great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1962, her parents, one infant daughter and three brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 10, 1989)
