Mattie E. Parsons, 78, of 665 Hillview Dr., a resident of Marion for the past four years and formerly of Spencer, Ia., and Spokane, Wash., died Feb. 27 in a Cedar Rapids hospital. She was born the daughter of George W. and Mary Jane Dikeman Barlean on Sept. 21, 1896 at Oxford Junction. She was married to Jack Corper who died November, 1918. In 1928 she was married to Clifford V. Parsons who died in 1967. Mrs. Parsons was a member of the Methodist church.
Surviving are four sons, Victor Corper of Spokane, Wash., George Corper of Spencer, David Parsons of Jacksonville, Fla., and Leroy Parsons of Marion; three daughters, Mrs. Marie Monroe of Marion, with whom she made her home, Mrs. Mienert (Mary Lou) Rinken of Spencer and Mrs. Charlotte Wadsworth of Marion; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Services were held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 1 at the Murdoch chapel in Marion, conducted by the Rev. Glen W. Lamb. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 3 at Oak Hill Cemetery at Estherville, conducted by the Rev. Max Goldman. Murdoch chapel in Marion had charge of the local arrangements.
