John Raymond [Richmond] Weir Dies; Services Set Saturday
John Richmond Weir, 75, Estherville, died at Holy Family Hospital Feb. 21, 1973. Funeral services will be held at 2pm Saturday at Reese-Henry Chapel, Estherville, with the Rev. Richard Headen officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery.

Mr. Weir was born Oct. 10, 1897, in Emmet County to William and Ora (Dodds) Weir. He attended Emmet County schools and was married Aug. 1, 1923, to Florence Elizabeth Stevens in Malden, Mass.

Except for four years of service in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1919 to 1923, he lived most of his life in Emmet County where he had been a mail carrier. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and Odd Fellows Lodge.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. William (Lillian)Howard, Estherville, Mrs. Beverly Hagen, Alton, ILL., and Mrs. Richard (Mary) Ringel, Estherville, 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Byron Weir, Land O'Lakes, Wis.; and two sisters, Mrs. Jess (Annie) Rosburg, Estherville, and Mrs. Eleanor Donnahue, Imperial Beach, CA.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, one brother and one sister.

Pallbearers will be Leo Rosburg, Merle Grems, Donald Howard, Leo Waters, Clarence Moffitt and Lester Mortimore. Friends may call at Reese-Henry Funeral Home at any time until time of services Saturday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 23, 1973)
