Services Held Saturday for Mrs. Lars Thomsen
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Wallingford Lutheran church for Mrs. Lars (Ellen) Thomsen, 59, of Wallingford, who died unexpectedly Wednesday [April 19, 1967] night at her home. Death was attributed to an apparent heart attack as she had retired early and when her husband retired, he found she had died about 9:45 p.m.

Family services were held at 2:00 followed by public services with Rev. Robert Glaser officiating. Burial was in East Side cemetery. Pallbearers were Chester Anderson, Jens Rasmussen, Henry Jensen, Forrest Slipes, Jack Platter and Ralph Borchers.

Ellen Irene Kinnard was born April 17, 1908 at Estherville to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Kinnard. She was educated in Estherville schools and spent her entire life in Emmet County.

She was married Nov. 25, 1926, to Lars Thomsen at Seneca and farmed with her husband south of Wallingford until 1953 when they moved into town.

She was a member of Wallingford Lutheran Church and was active in ladies groups of the church. She was active also in the Farm Bureau home projects group.

She is survived by her husband, two son: Lawrence of rural Graettinger and Robert of Wallingford; three daughters, Mrs. John (Dorothy) Anderson, Spirit Lake; Mrs. Marvin (Ruth) Boyenga, Mason City; and Nancy at home. Also 17 grandchildren, three brothers, William, Robert and Edwin Kinnard, and one sister, Mrs. Ernest Hanson, all of Estherville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, one brother, and two sisters. (Graettinger Times, Graettinger, IA, April 27, 1967)
