Otto Swalve Died Saturday Morning From a Heart Attack
Otto Swalve, Sr. 62, died Saturday, August 1, from a sudden heart attack.

Mr. Swalve was born June 24, 1880, in Osfeisland, Germany, where he was baptized and confirmed in the German Reformed church.

When he was 21 years old he came to the United States.

In 1916 his first wife died, leaving two sons, Private Roy Swalve of Camp Walters, Texas; and Richard Swalve of Estherville, and a daughter, Mrs. Fred Beitz of Algona.

In 1919 he was married to Mrs. Elsie [Sleeper] Isebrand, and to this union nine children were born. They were Evert of Thompson, Mrs. Vinal Babo [Bebo] of Dolliver, Otto Swalve of Ellsworth; Elsie, Anita, Ada, Andrew and Leona, all living at home.

He is also survived by two brothers, Joe Swalve, of Clarksville, and John Swalve of Titonka, and a sister, Mrs. Ed Lyons of Iowa Falls; one half-brother, Ahrend Swalve of Thompson, a step-son, Pvt. John Isebrand of Fort Lewis, Wash.; two step-daughters, Mrs. Harry Schroeder, of Estherville, and Mrs. Forrest McGregor of Armstrong.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday afternoon at the Presbyterian church. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, August 4, 1942)

Swea City – Otto Swalve, one-time tenant of the Nels Griffith farm north of town, died suddenly at his home at Estherville on August 8 [1], a heart attack being the cause. Mr. Swalve was born June 24, 1880,l in Oestfriesland, Germany, and was 62 years old at the time of his death. Algona Upper Des Moines, Algona, IA, August 18, 1942)
