J. Nolan Dies at Hospital
War Disability Fatal to Former Local Man
The World war claimed another victim in the death Sunday night at the Mitchell, S.D., hospital of John Nolan of Emory, S.D., formerly a bank employee in Estherville. Nolan died on the operating table when an effort was being made to locate the seat of an infection in his leg. Trench fever contracted during his long overseas service had settled in his leg and he had during all these years been a constant sufferer. There had been several operations and had he withstood this last operation, an amputation was unavoidable

Funeral services are being held today at Emory. His mother-in-law, Mrs. Thos. Doyle had been at Mitchell since the last of the week, and Mrs. Norman Maine of this city and Mrs. Cletus Keogh of Minneapolis left for Emory on Tuesday. Mr. Nolan was about 35 years of age. He is survived by his wife, son Jackie, and his parents, all of Emory and by two sisters and brothers.

Following his discharge from service Mr. Nolan was employed as assistant cashier in the Estherville State bank. He was well known here and had many friends. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville , IA, January 3, 1935)
