Longtime Wallingford Resident Dies
Tom Natterstad, 92, longtime resident of the Wallingford vicinity, died at 7:15 a.m. Sunday [February 3, 1957] at the home of his son, Sam Natterstad, near Wallingford. Death was attributed to complications of old age. Mr. Natterstad had been in poor health for the past seven years.Born June 1, 1864, in Norway, Tom Natterstad was united in marriage to Kristi Sundal, May 9, 1891 in Norway. Mr. and Mrs. Natterstad came to the United States in 1892, settling in Ottaway, Ill.
The Natterstads moved to Des Moines in 1901 and lived there until 1908 at which time they moved to Forest City. In 1911 they came to Emmet county where they farmed near Wallingford.
Mr. Natterstad was a longtime member of the Wallingford Lutheran Church.
He is survived by three son, Sam and Omer, both of the Wallingford area, and Martin of Estherville; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His wife died in August, 1937.
Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Wallingford Lutheran Church, the Rev. Norbert Joliette officiating. Friends may call at Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home until 12 noon tomorrow at which time the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of services. The casket will not be opened following the service.
Pallbearers for the service will be Lester Larsen, Chester Anderson, Joe Brinkman, S.O. Lundy, Ernest Syverson and Chet Torreson. Burial will be in the Wallingford cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 4, 1957)
