Pioneer Settler Passes Away
Was Well Known Resident
Henry Pullen Has Been Since Boyhood a Resident of This County and City
Has Taken Interest in Farm Community Work and Politics in the Past
Henry Edmonds Pullen a pioneer resident of this county, passed away at his home on North Eighth Street on Saturday last [October 1, 1921]. Mr. Pullen was born in England on September 18, 1852 [Per cemetery records, 1851]. He came to this county with his parents when he was a mere child. In the pioneer days his parents and their family came to Emmet county where they took up their residence and where his parents spent the remainder of their lives. Mr. Pullen was united in marriage in this city to Harriet Baldwin and they resided for many years on their farm south of this city. Some years ago his health failed and they moved to Estherville. He was in earlier days greatly interested in matters pertaining to and connected with the farming industry, and while he never sought office he was somewhat interested in political matters in the county.Mr. Pullen leaves to mourn his death his wife, two brothers, Thomas and George, and two sisters, Mrs. H.E. McCoy and Mrs. G. Heathman.
The funeral services were conducted from the home on Monday at 2:30 p.m., the Rev. Hurley of the Union Baptist church officiating. Interment was made in the east side cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, October 5, 1921)

Old Resident of Estherville Answered Final Summons – Poor Health for Some Time
Henry Pullen, one of the Estherville’s pioneer citizens and a highly respected and honored man died at his home in this city last Saturday after an illness extending over a long period of time. Mr. Pullen had been confined to the house almost all the time for the past year and a half by the disease which he was powerless to resist. He leaves a large circle of friends to mourn his departure fully realizing that it was for the best that he be called as he has suffered greatly during his illness.Henry Edmonds Pullen was born in England on September 18, 1852. He came to this country as a small boy with his parents and their family. He was untied in marriage to Mrs. Harriet E. Baldwin April 5th, 1890. He is survived by his wife, two brothers, Thomas and George and two sisters, Mrs. H. McCoy and Mrs. G. Heathman.
Funeral services were held at the home last Monday afternoon, Rev. J. Arthur Hurley being in charge. Burial was made in the East Side Cemetery. The bereaved relatives have the deepest sympathy of the entire community. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, October 5, 1921)
