Funeral services for Ida M. Olson, 92, of Estherville will be held 10:30a.m., Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Society Chapel in Estherville with Pastor Lyndon Roesler officiating. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday before services at the chapel. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery in Estherville.

She died Thursday, Jan. 8, at the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville.

Ida Margaret (Helmers) Olson, the daughter of Robert and Thoma (Schuller) Helmers, was born Feb. 12, 1916 in Spencer. She received her education and graduated from Halfa High School.

Ida was united in marriage to Thomas G. Olson in 1934, in Fairmont, Minn. She made her home in rural Ringsted area and Estherville where she has been a resident of the Good Samaritan Society for the past 24 years. She was a member of the Lutheran Church.

Left to cherish Ida's memory are her son, Glen Olson, and his wife, Twila, of Ringsted; grandchildren, Doug Olson of Ankeny and Teri Whitaker and her husband, Keith, of Hutchinson, Kan; and great grandchildren, Kirsten and Kara Whitaker.

Preceding Ida in death were her parents and brothers and sisters, Herman Helmers, Neil Helmers, Robert Helmers, John Helmers, Nellie Petersen, Myrtle Bergeson, Ann Vigdal and Grace Nelson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January, 2009)
