Mrs. Alfred Nelson Dies
Mrs. Alfred Nelson [Carrie Alice Irwin Nelson], 69, of Armstrong, resident of Emmet county for many years, died yesterday noon and funeral services will be held either Monday or Tuesday at the Armstrong Presbyterian church. Definite arrangements are awaiting word from a son, John, in the army stationed at Fort Carson, Colo. Mrs. Nelson is survived by her husband, seven children, Mrs. Albert Hovick of Ceylon, Wallace of Welcome, Minn., Alfred of Sherburn, Lester of Armstrong, Mrs. Gilbert Shock of Southgate, Calif., Donald of Armstrong and John in the service and 13 grandchildren. The Nelsons farmed for many years in the Dolliver-Maple Hill area and moved to a farm east of Armstrong in 1951. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 27, 1952)
