Former City Carpenter Dies Sunday
Robert K. [Kenneth] Mitchell, 55, formerly of Estherville, died at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester, Minn. Sunday morning, Feb. 27, 1972. Mr. Mitchell, a resident of Oronoco, Minn., had suffered a stroke.

Funeral services are being held today at 4 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Stewartville, Minn. Following services there, his body will be brought to Estherville, where he will lie in state at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday here at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Pearson officiating. Burial will be made at the East Side Cemetery.

Mr. Mitchell was born Jan. 1, 1917, at Spirit Lake to Mr. and Mrs. George E. Mitchell. He was educated in Spirit Lake and Estherville schools. On May 20, 1945, he was married to Marjorie Meiners at Gruver.

He worked as a carpenter in Estherville for seven years and then moved to Graettinger. In 1962 he moved to Stewartville, Minn., and two years ago, in 1969, he moved to Oronoco, Minn. He was employed by the United Rent-all of Rochester.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Dianne) Hanenberger of Blooming Prairie, Minn. and Mrs. James (Donna) Wilkerson, Rochester; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George E. Mitchell, Estherville; four brothers, George Mitchell of Seattle, Wash., Carlyle Mitchell of Spirit Lake, Raymond Mitchell of Milford, Bruce Mitchell of Estherville; two sisters Mrs. Joel Lieb of Spirit Lake and Mrs. Richard Manogue of Spirit Lake.

Friends may call at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home after 1 p.m. tomorrow until noon on Thursday. Pallbearers at the funeral will be Charles Edge, Leland Knudson, James Meyers, Maurice Drew, Russell Johnson and Clarence Carr. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 29, 1972)
