Howard P. Mitchell Dies
Howard P. Mitchell, 50, of Estherville died at 11 a.m. today just after he arrived at Holy Family Hospital. Cause of death was a heart attack. Mr. Mitchell farms and had been at this farm this morning. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 8, 1966)

Mitchell’s Rites to Be Saturday
Funeral services for Howard P. Mitchell, 50, who died at 11:30 a.m. yesterday will be held Saturday at Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Family services will be at 10:30 a.m. at Reese chapel and public services at 1 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church the Rev. Harley Schmitt officiating.

Burial will be in East Side Cemetery.

Mr. Mitchell suffered a heart attack yesterday morning and died as he was entering Holy Family Hospital.

He was born Sept. 8, 1915 at Templer Park on Spirit Lake, the son of Mrs. and Mrs. Elmer Mitchell. He attended Wessington Public Schools in Wessington, S.D.

He was married April 11, 1941, to Alice Sunde of Estherville. They moved from South Dakota to Maple Hill in 1934 [1944?] and farmed in the Maple Hill area for 25 years.

He was a member of the Maple Hill school board and had been active in the farm community of the county. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife, Alice, of Estherville; one daughter, Mrs. Perry (Coleen) Smith of Worthington; one grandson, Jeffrey; and a brother, Flynn Mitchell of Estherville. He was preceded in death by his parents. [remainder unreadable]. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 9, 1966)
