Mrs. J.H. Merriott
Eugenia M. Pickell, daughter of Henry and Mary Pickell, was born September 23, 1866, at Winniconie, Wisconsin.

When a small child she came with her parents to live in Iowa. She was united in marriage to James H. Merriott July 1, 1884, at New Hampton, Iowa. For four years they made their home in Fredrika, Iowa. Moving from there to Dickinson county where they lived six years. The remainder of her years were spent at Gruver, Iowa.

In the fall of 1896 she and her husband united with the M.E. church at Swan Lake and established a Christian home whose influence has touched all who knew them.

Mrs. Merriott was one of those women who was wrapped up in her home and no task was too heavy for her to perform if it was to benefit those whom she loved. By nature she was endowed with a beautiful loving heart and it always beat in unison to the wants of those with whom she was surrounded, words of kindness and sympathy to those who were in affliction flowed from her lips as freely as pure and sparkling water from the fountain and while the lips are now mute in the sleep of death her kind words, loving sympathy and charity will ever be treasured by those to whom she was attached in ties of blood and friendship.

To this union were born two children, Roy of Estherville and Laura, who passed away in 1904. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, her son, Roy, and wife, and three grandchildren, LeRoy, Pauline, and Marilyn Mae; three brothers, four sisters, two half brothers, besides other relatives. One brother died in infancy and one sister five months ago.
