Jackson – Services for Melvin Ora Maloney, 86, a resident of Good Samaritan Home, will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the Good Samaritan Home Chapel, 600 West St., Jackson, with the Revs. Anton Gerlach and James Wolf officiating. Mr. Maloney died Wednesday [August 31, 1977] morning at Jackson Municipal Hospital. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery, Estherville.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. Thursday until noon Friday at Sathe and Son Funeral Home, Jackson.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. James Maloney, he was born Aug. 22, 1891 in Calhoun County, Iowa and attended Calhoun County schools. He was involved in farming and trucking operations and lived in Emmet, Martin and Jackson Counties. He was a resident of Alpha for 37 years.

Mr. Maloney is survived by one sister, Mrs. Ivol (Edna) Clark, Estherville, one sister-in-law Mrs. Rose Maloney, Lewisville, Minn., and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 1, 1977)
