Body Found in Garage
George Zitterich, 75, of Estherville was found dead shortly before noon today in a neighbor’s garage.

County Medical Examiner L. W. Loving ruled death was caused by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The body was discovered by a neighbor, Fred Sternborg, in a garage owned by Mrs. Clayton Hubbard.

Sternborg and several other neighbors had been asked to Mrs. Zitterich to aid in a search for her husband after she discovered he was absent from their home at 207 Sixth Ave. N.

Mr. Zitterich was holding a .410 shotgun in his right hand.

Final Rites on Thursday
Family services for George Zitterich of Estherville will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, followed by public services at 2 p.m, Rev. W.H. Discher officiating.

Burial will be in East Side Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be performed.

Mr. Zitterich, 74, died yesterday at 10 a.m. from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He had been in failing health for the past few years and during the past six months he grew rapidly worse.

Friends may call at the Reese Funeral Home after 9 a.m. Wednesday until noon Thursday when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of services.

George Christoph Zitterich was born March 29, 1892, at Ayrshire the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Zitterich. He attended rural Emmet County Schools.

May 9, 1932 he was married to Mary Kay Infield [Linde] at Fort Dodge. Mr. Zitterich worked for the City of Estherville for 21 years until his retirement in 1956.

He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Mr. Zitterich is survived by his wife, Mary, of Estherville; one daughter, Mrs. Violet Gully of Chicago, Ill.; three grandchildren; Mrs. Melodee Hubert of Sioux City, Mrs. Roberta O’Donnell of Chicago, and Henry Gully of Chicago; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Edward of Graettinger, Louis of Sherburn, and Albert of Houston, Tex.; and two sisters, Mrs. Regina Zerke of Hofstader’s Nursing Home in Estherville, and Susanna Spoo of Minneapolis.
