Mrs. Fred Lyman Dies at Age 63
Mrs. Fred (Billy) [Lilly] Lyman, 63, died today about 3:30 a.m. at Holy Family Hospital after a lingering illness Mrs. Lyman had been in poor health for more than a year and had been hospitalized for about a month.

The former Lily Sorenson was born Nov. 26, 1904, at Spencer to Nels and Caroline Sorenson. She received her elementary and high school education in Spencer, graduated from Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, and taught school in Maple Hill, Estherville, and other Iowa schools.

She was married June 30, 1933, to Fred M. Lyman at Sioux Falls, S.D. After their marriage they lived in Estherville. Mr. Lyman died Feb. 27, 1964.

Mrs. Lyman was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by one son, George H. Lyman of Edina, Minn.; two grandchildren, Suanne and Peter; and four sisters, Mrs. Teona Bashan of Tacoma, Wash., Mrs. Cora McCown, Mrs. Morgan Jones, both of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Stanley Smith of Mason City.

Her husband, her parents, two sisters and three brothers preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Rev. H. Allen Wirtz officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery.

Friend may call at Fuhrman Funeral Home after noon Friday until noon Satruday when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of services.

A memorial fund has been established by the family. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 30, 1967)
