Costa Mesa, Calif – Services for Mrs. Bertha Goldsberry, a former Gruver resident, will be held at the Gruver United Presbyterian Church, at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 23. The Rev. Neal Armstrong will officiate at the services with burial to be at the East Side Cemetery.

Mrs. Goldsberry had been living with her daughter in Costa Mesa, Calif., for the last several years. She died Sunday, December 18 at her daughter’s home from complications of age.

She was born near Estherville on Nov. 4, 1890 to Mr. and Mrs. George Davis. Mrs. Goldsberry was educated in the Estherville schools and attended college at Ames. After graduation from college she returned home to teach in Emmet County schools. On August 27, 1913 she married John Goldsberry and the couple made their home in Gruver.

She was a member of the Gruver Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday school there for many years.

Mrs. Goldsberry is survived by two daughters, Mrs. John (Margaret) Catlin, Costa Mesa, Calif. and Mrs. Vernon (Carolyn) Martin, Estherville; a son, Kenneth, Davenport; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, John, who died in 1962, her parents, two brothers and five sisters.

Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville, is in charge of arrangements. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Thursday, Dec. 22. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 20, 1977)
