Father of Local Man Dies at 82
Last rites for Frank P. Godsil, 82, of Knoxville, father of Richard Godsil of this city, were held Monay at 10 a.m. in the Klinck Chapel at Knoxville, the Rev. John H. Clarke officiating. Burial was in Westfall cemetery at Knoxville.

Mr. Godsil died Friday at the Knoxville Good Samaritan Home where he had been a resident for the past three years. His death followed an extended illness.

He was born March 28, 1878 in Knox County and after reaching manhood, farmed in the Maxel Chapel area until 1923 when he retired and moved to Knoxville.

He was married to Esther Seiboldt who preceded him in death. One daughter also preceded Mr. Godsil in death.

Surviving Mr. Godsil’s death are two sons, Richard of Estherville and Raymond of Knoxville; three daughters, Mrs. Esther Ammeter of Washington state, Mrs. Francis Gibbs of Victoria and Mrs. Virginia Carlson of Knoxville; 27 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Two brothers, James and David Godsil, both of Galesburg; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Hicks of Galesburg and Mrs. Delbert Martin who lives in Montana, also survive.

Those from Estherville who attended the services are Mr. and Mrs. Richard Godsil and their daughters and granddaughter, Mrs. Keith Burg and daughter. Also making the trip with the Godsils to Knoxville for the funeral were Mrs. Richard Clapper and daughter of Clear Lake. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 12, 1960)
