He next moved into Estherville and with a company of good Christian people formed the nucleus of the present first Methodist Episcopal Church and became the first pastor and so acted for three years. He entered the business world engaging in business activities and was a faithful man in this work for many years. A few years ago he moved to Washington to enjoy a well deserved rest with his brother C.H. Littell. Here he passed away after a lingering sickness which disclosed the fact that the great body was worn out.

He is survived by three brothers and one sister, John P. Littell of this city, C.H. Littell of Mondovi, Washington, Aaron J. Littell of Pepin Wis., and Mrs. John Fleming, Pepin, Wisconsin.

At the time of his death he was 70 years 10 months and 28 days of age.

E.R. Littell was converted at the age of 17 years and gave himself unreservedly to the Master. Shortly after he found Christ his thought turned to the work of the Saviour and was soon appointed as an exhorter in the Church and later elected and became a local preacher. He early showed a marvelous power in preaching and leading men to Christ. He was a good man, a faithful husband and devoted father. The memory of his good life will long remain a blessing to many who have known his devotion to the Master. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, April 9, 1913)
