Gordon L. Corwin Dies; Rites Set
Gordon Lewis Corwin, 62, long-time mechanic at Miner Motors, died last night of a heart attack at Holy Family Hospital. He had had a heart condition for the past seven years.Corwin was born July 8, 1900, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Corwin at Viola Center in Audubon County. He received his education in the Viola Center school. He was married to the former Margaret Aldrich on Oct. 12, 1920, in Audubon.
They moved to Estherville in 1947 and he had been employed at Miner Motors for 13 years as a mechanic. Prior to moving to Estherville the Corwins lived in Swea City for three years.
He was a member of First Methodist Church.
Surviving are his widow, one son, Lewis of Wallingford, and two grandchildren, Michael and Kristyn Corwin of Wallingford. He is also survived by one brother, Donald Corwin of Estherville. He was preceded in death by one son who was killed in World War II, his parents, and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Reese Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Fred Ortmeyer officiating. Family services will be at 10:30 a.m. at the chapel. Burial will be at East Side Cemetery. The casket will not be opened following the services.
Friends may call at the Reese Funeral Home from 9 a.m. Tuesday until time of service on Wednesday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 10, 1963)
