Brown Dies After Attack
Robert Brown, 50, of Estherville died about 9 o’clock this morning at his home. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Reese Funeral Home is in charge. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 20, 1965)Final Rites Wednesday for Brown
Funeral services for Robert Brown, 50, lifetime resident of the Graettinger and Estherville areas who died Saturday, are to be Wednesday. A family service at 10:30 a.m., at the Reese Funeral Home, will be followed by a 2 p.m. church service at Calvary Baptist Church, Rev. Denzil Neumann officiating. Burial, with military services, is to be in East Side Cemetery.Mr. Brown died about 9 a.m. Saturday at his home, his death attributed to a heart attack. He suffered his first heart attack June 22 and was confined to Holy Family Hospital for several weeks at that time. Since, he had been in poor health.
Robert Floyd Brown was born Sept. 7, 1915, at Graettinger, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brown. He received his early schooling in Graettinger but moved with his parents to Estherville while a young boy and completed his education here.
He was married Dec. 19, 1937, to Ruth Miller of Estherville. Mr. and Mrs. Brown had lived their entire married life here.
He had been in the auto salvage business most of his life and at the time of his death, was still operating a business here. He had been a substitute rural mail carrier for 25 years and for the past five years had been custodian at the Estherville Postoffice.
Mr. Brown served in World War II and was a member of the American Legion. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his widow, two sons, Robert 16, and David 5, both at home; two sisters, Mrs. Oscar Isaacs of Estherville and Mrs. Albert Heidecker or Fairmont; and two brothers, Clyde of Cedar Rapids and Charles, living in California.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today until Wednesday noon at which time they may call at Calvary Baptist Church until time of the services. The casket will not be opened after the service. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 22, 1965)
