L.L. [J.] Bixby, a pioneer resident of this city, passed away at the home of his brother at ten o’clock this morning. He had been in failing health for some time but death was caused by diabetes infection, which had been bothering him for more than two months.

Mr. Bixby, who was seventy years of age last June, came to this city with his parents in 1882. He moved from this city to Minneapolis, returning after the death of his wife [Silence D. Carver Bixby]. For the past eight years he has resided with his brother, Chas. Bixby.

Archie and Chas. Bixby of this city, R.A. Bixby of Atlantic, Iowa, are surviving brothers of the deceased.

The funeral services will be held from the Mahlum and Anderson funeral parlors on Saturday afternoon, the Rev. WinterStein officiating. The remains will be laid to rest beside those of his wife in East Side Cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, December 28, 1932)

L.J. Bixby Dies of Stroke Here This Morning
L.J. Bixby, 71, who had been ill for several months died this morning of a paralytic stroke at the home of his brother, Charles Bixby with whom he was spending the holidays. He had recently been at a local hospital for treatment but had been released in order to spend Christmas with his relatives. He suffered his stroke Christmas morning and passed away today without rallying.

Mr. Bixby had been a resident of Estherville for 50 years. After the death of his wife 8 [18] years ago he resided with his mother and after she passed away with his brother, Charles. Besides the brother Charles four other brothers survive, Archie of Estherville, E.A. of California, R.W. of Atlantic and Delbert R. of Clear Lake, S.D.

Funeral services will be held at two-thirty Saturday afternoon from the Mahlum and Anderson funeral chapel. Rev. W. A. WinterStein of the M.E. church will officiate. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, December 28, 1932)
