Martin Berdahl of Ringsted, is a patient at the Veteran’s hospital, Des Moines, and is critically sick. He ws taken there Sunday via amblance. Mrs. Berdahl is the former Vivian Potter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Potter. (Kossuth County Advance, Algona, IA, May 1, 1958)

Farmer of Ringsted Dies
Martin Berdahl, 68, of Ringsted died at 7:30 last night at the Veteran’s Hospital in Des Moines where he had been hospitalized since Sunday after being flown there. He had been in failing health for the past five years.

Mr. Berdahl, a farmer, lived most of his life in this area. He was born June 21, 1889 near Wallingford, the son son Anfin and Une Berdahl. He received his education at Gruver.

In October, 1949, Mr. Berdahl was united in marriage to Vivian Nielson of Ringted.

Mr. Berdahl was a member of the VFW and Lutheran church, having been baptized in the Lutheran faith at Wallingford.

Survivors are his wife, Vivian; one son, Roger Lee, at home; four step-children: Mrs. Paul (Wanda) Porter of Des Moines,and Sharon, Marlys and Chris, all at home; three sisters, Mrs. Charles Stoffel of Estherville, Mrs. Carrie Kruse of Ringsted and Mrs. Josie Peterson of Forest City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
