Many times a journalist is called upon to chronicle sad cases of events and happenings. This time it becomes the sad, sad duty to record the death of Mrs. Carl Seim, of Emmet township, who lost her life by freezing. It seems that she left Gus Peitz’s, on Tuesday, intending to go to Daniel Peitz’s, a distance of three-quarters of a mile, but lost her way, owing to her near sightedness, and perished by the extreme cold. She was a German lady, 56 years old, and has resided in the country for ten years. The bereaved ones have a full measure of sympathy. The funeral services will be held Sunday at the residence of Daniel Peitz, Emmet township. (National Broad-Axe, Estherville, IA, January 5, 1883)
Note: Burial probably in Wallingford Lutheran
