Harry Andrews Dies; Funeral Set Thursday
Harry A. (Hap) Andrews, 90, died Oct. 5 at the Good Samaritan Center. Cause of death was a lingering illness.He was born May 25, 1880, Black Hawk County, at Waterloo and was the son of Nelson and Katherine Andrews.
At the age of six, he came with his parents to the Swan Lake area in Emmet County, where he spent the rest of his life. He attended school in the Swan Lake area.
He was a meat cutter for many years and helped in a meat market owned by his father in Gruver from 1910 to 1920. He also ran an elevator in Spirit Lake for Fred Dowden for many years and managed the Andrews Hotel in Spirit Lake for several years. In later years he did painting and paper hanging.
He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, 447 AF and AM of Estherville, 32nd degree.
He is survived by one brother, Norman, Gruver; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and four brothers.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Fuhrman Funeral Home and burial will be at East Side Cemetery.
The Rev. Neal Armstrong of the United Presbyterian Church of Gruver will officiate.
Masonic services will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Fuhrman Funeral Home.
Friends may call at the funeral home from noon Wednesday until time of services on Thursday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 6, 1970)
